The Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD) Governing Board convened for a regular meeting on May 1, 2024, at 7 PM. The meeting commenced with the presence of four board members, while one member was absent. The agenda for the evening was adopted unanimously following a motion and a second from board members.
The board then addressed the possibility of entering an executive session; however, no members expressed a desire to proceed with that option. Following this, Vice President James led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. This was followed by a moment of silence and a land acknowledgment presented by Member Steele, recognizing the district's location on the ancestral lands of the Akmal, Autumn, Piedam, Pima, and Pee Posh Maricopa indigenous peoples.
The meeting proceeded smoothly, with all agenda items addressed in an orderly fashion. Further discussions and decisions were anticipated in subsequent segments of the meeting.
