The Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD) Governing Board convened on September 20, 2023, to celebrate notable achievements and introduce new administrative staff. The meeting commenced with a recognition of the Mountain Point High School boys' track and field team, who recently secured the boys Division 2 state championship. Following the track team's recognition, the board honored Dr. Darlene Weddington Clark for receiving the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association's William E. Sylvester Glover, the new Assistant Principal of Athletics at Corona del Sol, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community. Kim Higginbotham, the new Assistant Principal of Athletics at Desert Vista, shared her excitement about joining the Tempe Union family. Jared Walther, also at Desert Vista as the Assistant Principal for Activities, conveyed his enthusiasm for contributing to the school community.

Don Baker, the new Assistant Principal of Activities at Mountain Point, and David Morton, returning as the Assistant Principal of Activities at Tempe High School, both expressed their eagerness to support their respective schools and communities.

The meeting concluded with a collective acknowledgment of the new leaders' potential to positively impact the district. The Governing Board expressed appreciation for their commitment to fostering student success and enhancing the educational environment within TUHSD.
