Barrett, who has conducted extensive research on microplastics and emissions from go-kart tires, expressed serious concerns regarding the racetrack's location. She highlighted that the track's placement in a stream valley could exacerbate the release of harmful microparticles into the environment. "Every time they take a turn, they release an excessive amount of effluent," Barrett stated, emphasizing the risk of these particles contaminating local water sources and affecting the health of residents and wildlife.

The discussion revealed that residents in the area rely on well water, raising alarms about potential contamination from microplastics that could seep into the aquifer. Barrett noted that while the wells do not draw directly from the stream, microplastics can still infiltrate groundwater over time. "They do eventually make their way into those sources," she warned.

While Barrett acknowledged she did not have specific data on hand, she referenced multiple studies that discuss the health risks associated with tire and road wear particles.
