Mineola approves movie night at Memorial Park and new fire department members

The Mineola Village Board made significant strides during its July 9, 2025, work session, approving key community events and personnel matters.

First on the agenda was the approval of bills and payroll, which passed unanimously after a motion by Trustee Casado and a second from Trustee Clark. The board also greenlit a request from the Mineola Chamber of Commerce for a movie night at the Memorial Park Amphitheater, scheduled for September 26, 2025. This event promises to bring the community together for an evening of entertainment, with a rain date set for the following day.

In a show of support for local emergency services, the board approved the membership of five new candidates to the Mineola Fire Department, all from Company 3. This decision reflects the village's commitment to maintaining a robust and well-staffed fire service.

The session also included a brief executive meeting to discuss a personnel matter, after which the board reconvened to close the work session.

As the meeting wrapped up, Deputy Mayor Sartori reminded attendees of the upcoming Nineties Nostalgia Fest and the Nassau Pops concert, both set to take place over the weekend, along with a fireworks display at Wilson Field. The board's decisions not only enhance community engagement but also ensure the continued support of local services.
