Economic Development Council launches Treasure Coast Center for Educational Development

The St. Lucie County School Board meeting on July 8, 2025, highlighted significant developments in educational and workforce initiatives aimed at enhancing career opportunities for students. The meeting featured updates from the Economic Development Council (EDC) and the newly established Treasure Coast Center for Economic and Educational Development (TCC).

During the meeting, Pete, a representative from the EDC, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the EDC and the school district. He noted that the TCC is focused on creating a workforce-centric approach that connects education with career opportunities, benefiting both students and the local economy. This initiative aims to ensure that young people in St. Lucie County have access to viable career paths, which is crucial for building a strong future workforce.

Ezelina Goldstein, chairwoman of the EDC, further elaborated on the TCC's vision. She expressed gratitude for the partnership with St. Lucie Public Schools and praised Superintendent Dr. John Prince for his leadership and support in fostering collaboration. Goldstein highlighted the goal of providing every student in the county with access to meaningful careers, which she believes is achievable through the ongoing partnership with the school district.

Anita Fisher, the director of workforce readiness, also spoke about the successful internship programs and career and technical education initiatives being implemented this summer. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills and experiences necessary for future employment.
