County Board selects Bridal Guevara as new board liaison

The Orange County Board of Education convened on July 12, 2025, to discuss key personnel changes and upcoming initiatives. The meeting featured a significant focus on the selection of a new board liaison, following a thorough interview process.

During the meeting, it was reported that out of approximately 10 to 12 applicants, three candidates were selected for interviews. The board members, including Doctor Bean and Greg Rowland, expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the applicants. After considerable discussion, the board recommended Mister Bridal Guevara for the position of board liaison, pending board approval.

Bridal Guevara, who holds a master's degree in public administration from Grand Canyon University and a bachelor's degree in political science from UC Irvine, was highlighted for his extensive experience in public policy, grassroots mobilization, and community outreach. His strengths, as noted by staff member Stephanie Thomas, include leading diverse community initiatives, public speaking, event coordination, and bilingual communication skills in Spanish. Doctor Bean emphasized Guevara's sharpness during the interview and his potential to support the board effectively.

The board plans to vote on Guevara's appointment, with a proposed start date of July 15. Following his onboarding, Guevara is expected to travel to Sacramento to lobby against Assembly Bill 249, marking an immediate engagement in legislative advocacy.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on Guevara's qualifications and the importance of his role in supporting the board's initiatives moving forward.
