Community leaders celebrate sports achievements and upcoming events in New Mexico

During the recent City Council meeting in Roswell, NM, community engagement and local achievements took center stage, highlighting the dedication of city staff and local teams. Council members praised the efforts of staff members TJ, Amanda, and Sarah for their exceptional work throughout the basketball season, emphasizing their collaborative spirit and commitment to the community.

In a moment of recognition, the council celebrated Toni as the Employee of the Month. Her leadership in building a strong team and addressing turnover issues was acknowledged, showcasing the importance of stability and quality in city services.

The meeting also touched on the success of the recent UFO Festival, where community health volunteers played a vital role in ensuring safety and enjoyment for attendees. The festival attracted significant crowds, with discussions around the need for local hotels and restaurants to prepare adequately for future events, as attendance could reach up to 65,000 people.

Additionally, the council encouraged community participation in an upcoming glow-in-the-dark baseball game featuring the fire and police departments, promoting camaraderie and local spirit. The new Optimist team, aged 10 to 12, was also recognized for their impressive performance, having won state and set to represent New Mexico in Sugar Land.
