Superintendent unveils new school policies and attendance goals for upcoming year

The Chandler Unified School District Governing Board held its regular business meeting on July 9, 2025, as the new school year approaches. The meeting commenced with a roll call, confirming the presence of all board members, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.

Superintendent Narducci addressed the board, highlighting several key updates as the district prepares for the upcoming school year, which begins on July 16. He introduced a new feature in the Infinite Campus parent portal that allows secondary students to digitally request hall passes. This initiative aims to streamline the process, reduce paper usage, and enhance communication between students, teachers, and parents regarding student attendance in class.

Narducci emphasized the district's commitment to improving school attendance, stating that the motto for the year is "Every student, every day in school." He noted that chronic absenteeism is a significant concern and that the district will proactively monitor attendance to support students in maintaining consistent school participation.

Additionally, the superintendent discussed the governing board's policy regarding the use of cell phones and electronic devices during school hours. Under the new policy, students are prohibited from using these devices in class unless explicitly permitted by the teacher for instructional purposes or emergencies. Devices must be turned off and stored away during class time to foster a conducive learning environment.

The meeting also included a reminder about mandatory reporting policies, with a brief video presentation from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mike Delatore.
