Developer Rice presents new farmhouse concept for Shelburne neighborhood

The Baltimore County Design Review Panel convened on July 9, 2025, to discuss various residential development proposals, focusing primarily on a new farmhouse-style home with a two-car garage. The meeting began with a presentation by Mr. Rice, who showcased the design elements of the proposed home, including its color scheme of white siding and a charcoal black roof. He emphasized the absence of shutters, opting instead for a four-inch window surround and accent stone on the foundation.

Mr. Rice provided a detailed overview of the landscape plan, which includes 49 planting pieces, featuring both trees and shrubs. He also discussed the architectural features, such as a carriage-style garage door and a mix of vertical siding and vinyl cedar shake siding in the gable area. The design aims to enhance the home's aesthetic appeal while adhering to community standards.

Following the presentation, the floor was opened for public comments. However, no community members signed up to speak, leading to the closure of the public comment period. The panel then transitioned to a discussion phase, with Miss Watkins representing Sudbrook Park expressing appreciation for the development in the area.
