Utah County has officially declared the week of November 2023 as a time to honor its veterans, recognizing their sacrifices and contributions to the nation. During a recent commission meeting, a resolution was read that commemorates Veterans Day, which is celebrated annually on November 11. This day is dedicated to all American veterans who have served in various conflicts, not just those who lost their lives in battle.

The resolution highlights the historical significance of Veterans Day, tracing its origins back to Armistice Day in 1918, which marked the end of World War I. It acknowledges the immense toll of the war, with millions of soldiers and civilians affected. Since then, American service members have continued to serve in numerous conflicts, including World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and more recent engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As part of the commemoration, Utah County will display the United States flag and military banners around the county complex. Additionally, there will be booths set up to provide information on veteran services and to facilitate the sharing of military experiences. These activities will take place from November 8 through November 10 at the Utah County Historic Courthouse.
