The Red Clay Consolidated School District is making waves this summer with its community-focused initiatives, highlighted by the launch of a free summer meal program for students aged 18 and under. This program, part of the Community Eligibility Provision, aims to provide nutritious meals to families in need, ensuring that no child goes hungry during the break. The meals are available at various locations, including Powell Ford Park and Brandywine Springs Park, making access easier for families throughout the district.
Superintendent Dr. Green expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedication during the busy summer months, noting that over 250 students are currently participating in various summer programs, including the popular CAB summer programming and Freedom Schools at Baltz Elementary. The district is also gearing up for the Red Clay Summer Science Fair, set for July 23, which promises to engage students and families in educational activities.
In addition to meal programs and summer activities, the district is transitioning to a new student information system, Infinite Campus, which will replace the current home access center. Parents are encouraged to check their emails for login information as the new system is set to launch in the upcoming school year.
The meeting also highlighted upcoming community events, including the Wilmington City Schools quarterly retreat on July 19, aimed at fostering collaboration among families and educators. As July is recognized for its support of public education, the district is actively promoting community involvement and encouraging families to participate in discussions that impact local schools.
With these initiatives, the Red Clay Consolidated School District is not only addressing immediate needs but also building a stronger, more connected community for its students and families.
