Colfax City Council plans repeal and update of ADU ordinance ahead of public hearing

Public comments reflected a mix of opinions. Resident Tom Barnum advocated for short-term rentals, arguing they could boost local businesses by attracting tourists. Conversely, other residents raised concerns about the potential negative impacts of short-term rentals on community dynamics and housing availability.

The council ultimately leaned towards maintaining a minimum rental period of 30 days for ADUs, emphasizing the need to ensure that these units serve as long-term housing solutions rather than transient accommodations. The council plans to revisit the ordinance for a second reading and potential adoption at their next meeting on July 23, 2025.
