Brazoswood students shine at Seattle journalism convention earning top honors

During the recent Brazosport ISD Board Meeting held on July 14, 2025, significant achievements by students from Grama Wood High School were highlighted, showcasing the school’s commitment to excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.

One of the standout moments was the recognition of junior Shaylyn Stone, who earned an excellent rating for her feature photography portfolio at the JEA NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Seattle on April 26. Stone was one of only 28 students nationwide to receive this honor, underscoring the high caliber of talent present at Grama Wood High School. Additionally, she, along with her peers, presented a session on yearbook training to an audience of nearly 100 students and advisors, sharing valuable insights and strategies that could benefit their peers across the country.

The board meeting also served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of various athletes and their coaches, emphasizing the importance of community support from parents and fans throughout the year.
