Brazosport ISD honors May spotlight teachers and CKH showcase campuses

During the recent Brazosport Independent School District (BISD) Board Meeting held on July 14, 2025, the spotlight was on the district's outstanding educators and the recognition of schools committed to fostering positive learning environments.

The meeting began with the announcement of the Spotlight Teachers for May, honoring Britney Angelos from Kluth Intermediate School and Marla Nickel from AP Boedle Elementary. Angelos, a first-year dance teacher and cheer coach, was praised for her innovative leadership of the Cougar Crew dance and cheer team. Her efforts in coordinating community events and promoting inclusivity among students were highlighted as significant contributions to the school culture.

Marla Nickel, a third-grade teacher, was recognized for her exceptional work in science, social studies, and writing. Her dedication to enhancing student learning through thoughtful writing lessons and her involvement in extracurricular activities, such as the art club and student council, were noted as vital to her students' academic and personal development.

In addition to honoring individual educators, the meeting celebrated four BISD campuses that achieved the prestigious Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) Showcase Campus designation. This recognition is awarded to schools that prioritize building strong relationships and creating safe learning environments. The campuses recognized included Brazosport High School, Rasko Middle School, Brazoswood Ninth Grade Center, and Clute Intermediate School. The designation reflects the commitment of educators and staff to foster a culture where students feel valued and supported, emphasizing the importance of emotional growth alongside academic success.
