BISD Child Nutrition team honored with Cream of the Crop award

The Brazosport Independent School District (BISD) Board Meeting held on July 14, 2025, highlighted significant achievements and personnel changes within the district. The meeting commenced with a celebration of the BISD Child Nutrition team's recent accolade, the prestigious Cream of the Crop recognition from the Texas Department of Agriculture. This award honors school nutrition programs that excel in providing high-quality meals and innovative nutrition education. The board acknowledged the exceptional leadership of Child Nutrition Director Amy Anderson and registered dietitian Lisa Mitchell, praising their commitment to student well-being through fresh meals and a focus on food security.

Following the recognition of the Child Nutrition team, the meeting transitioned to personnel announcements. The board introduced two new elementary school principals for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Jessica Robertson was appointed as the principal of Stephen F. Austin Elementary. With over a decade of experience in education and a recent title as BISD Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year, Robertson has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic growth and student engagement.

The second announcement introduced Sarah Jatala as the new principal of AP Boito Elementary. Jatala brings more than 20 years of educational experience, including her recent role as assistant principal at Brazoswood High School. Her extensive background in leadership and student support positions her well for this new role, succeeding Laura Morris, who retired after leading the school since 2012.
