Buccaneer soccer program celebrates successful season turnaround under Coach Thad Goodling

In a spirited gathering at the Brazosport ISD Board Meeting, the spotlight shone brightly on the remarkable achievements of the Brazoswood Buccaneers soccer program. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the board celebrated a stunning turnaround in the team's performance, led by Head Coach Thad Goodling.

The Buccaneers, who had faced a challenging season in 2023 with a record of 6 wins, 9 losses, and 3 ties, made an impressive leap in the 2024-2025 season. Under Goodling's leadership, the team transformed their fortunes, finishing with a remarkable 15 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties. This turnaround not only earned them the title of District 24, 6A champions but also highlighted their resilience and determination on the field.

The Bucks showcased their tenacity in several key matches, including a decisive 3-0 victory over Goose Creek Memorial, which secured their bi-district championship. Their journey continued as they faced South Houston, where they fought back from a late deficit to tie the game and ultimately triumphed in a thrilling penalty shootout, earning the area championship and advancing to the Region 3 semifinals.

Coach Guest's recent accolade as the Texas Children's Association's Region 5 Assistant Coach of the Year underscored the team's strong leadership.
