Braco Sport ISD achieves perfect financial rating with 100% score

Brazosport Independent School District (BISD) has achieved a perfect score in its latest financial performance evaluation, securing the highest rating possible under the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) new accountability system. This accomplishment reflects the district's strong governance and effective financial management practices.

During the recent board meeting, it was highlighted that BISD successfully met all 21 financial indicators, including five critical indicators that are essential to avoid a failing rating. These critical indicators assess timely filing of financial reports, compliance with payment terms, and maintaining a positive net asset balance, among others. BISD passed all five, demonstrating its commitment to fiscal responsibility.

The evaluation also included solvency and financial competence indicators, with BISD scoring a total of 80 out of 80 points in these categories. Notably, the district's financial data submission showed a 0% variance, indicating precise budgeting and forecasting. The board discussed the importance of accurate attendance projections, which are crucial for state budget planning.

The new rating system introduced by TEA this year includes additional indicators, such as a requirement for districts to report on property values and funding formulas during board meetings. BISD has successfully navigated these changes, earning maximum points across all financial competence indicators.
