The Burleson Independent School District (BISD) held its board meeting on April 14, 2025, where several notable achievements among students were recognized. The meeting began with choir directors Travis Campbell and Megan Stubblefield presenting their students who were selected for the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA) All State choir.
Campbell highlighted the dedication of his students from STEAM Middle School, who not only auditioned for the prestigious choir but also participated in various other musical activities, including the Soundwave Show Choir and the Reverb men's choir, which recently earned a sweepstakes award at the UIL competition. He emphasized the significance of their upcoming trip to San Antonio in July, where they will rehearse with top clinicians and perform in a concert.
Stubblefield then spoke about her student, Marcy, from Kerr Middle School, praising her musical talent and work ethic. Marcy's achievements include participation in the region choir and the varsity treble choir, which also received accolades at UIL. Stubblefield expressed confidence in Marcy's future musical endeavors as she transitions to high school.
Following the choir recognitions, Dr. Stacia Pierce took the stage to honor Lillian Morlock, an eighth grader at Kerr Middle School, for winning the area spelling bee. Morlock represented BISD at the regional spelling bee in Fort Worth, and her family was acknowledged for their support.
The meeting continued with the introduction of two National Merit Scholar finalists, Thomas Bowles from Burleson High School and Aditi Ray from Centennial High School. Dr. Pierce explained the rigorous selection process for this prestigious award, noting that only about 1% of students nationwide qualify as finalists.
Overall, the meeting showcased the exceptional talents and hard work of BISD students, celebrating their achievements in music and academics while fostering a sense of community pride among families and educators.
