BCHS teacher Christina Shockey named Burleson secondary teacher of the year

In a vibrant gathering at Burleson High School, the Burleson Independent School District (BISD) board meeting on July 14, 2025, celebrated the achievements of educators and discussed critical updates on safety and teacher incentives. The atmosphere buzzed with pride as Christina Shockey, an eleventh and twelfth-grade pathway teacher, was honored as the BISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. In a further commitment to enhancing educational quality, Ann Marie Shelton provided an update on the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). She announced that 234 teachers would receive stipends ranging from $3,000 to $16,000, totaling over $1.8 million in additional compensation. This initiative aims to recognize and reward the hard work of educators, ensuring that Burleson remains a competitive and supportive environment for teaching.
