Grantham Academy staff honored for saving assistant principal's life during crisis

Aldine ISD's April Board Meeting spotlighted remarkable achievements in student attendance and life-saving actions by staff. The evening began with the presentation of an Impact Award to a dedicated team focused on improving student attendance across the district. Paul Shankler, representing the board, emphasized the financial significance of attendance, noting that a mere 1% increase could yield $4.5 million for the district. Following this recognition, Dr. Javier Villarreal, Chief of Schools, shared a harrowing yet inspiring story of heroism from Grantham Academy. On April 3, Assistant Principal Miss Fletcher suffered a seizure during a meeting. Quick-thinking staff members sprang into action, ensuring her safety and administering CPR until she began to breathe again. Dr. Villarreal honored seven staff members from Grantham Academy with the Humanitarian Award for their courageous response, underscoring the importance of preparedness and teamwork in critical situations.
