Mayor investigates fireworks malfunction after successful community event with 200 children

The City of Pryor Creek is set to address the recent fireworks show malfunction and explore future options for utilizing the remaining fireworks inventory valued at nearly $5,000. During the Economic Development Trust Authority (EDTA) meeting on July 14, 2025, officials confirmed that a circuit board failure caused the fireworks display to be cut short, but reassured the community that no injuries occurred and only minimal damage was reported.

Mayor and city officials are currently in discussions with Rainbow Fireworks to determine how to best use the leftover fireworks, with possibilities including a Christmas parade or rescheduling for next year. An announcement regarding the fireworks situation is expected within the next 30 days.

In addition to the fireworks discussion, the meeting highlighted the successful use of the fairgrounds for recent events, which provided ample parking and efficient waste management. The fairgrounds' five acres of paved parking and trash disposal systems contributed to a clean and organized environment, with no litter left behind after events.
