Desiree Reel celebrated for breaking multiple track records at Silent Springs High School

The Siloam Springs School District Board of Education meeting held on July 10, 2025, commenced with a celebration honoring student-athlete Desiree Reel for her outstanding achievements in track and field. Dr. McClung introduced Coach James, who detailed Desiree's remarkable accomplishments during the past season, highlighting her record-breaking performances and leadership qualities.

Desiree, who joined Siloam Springs High School last year, made a significant impact on the track team. Coach James noted her numerous records, including breaking the school record in the 200 and 400 meters during the indoor season and winning multiple state championships. She set the 5A state record in the 400 meters and achieved an all-time high school state record in the same event, a feat that had not been accomplished in nearly a century.

Throughout the outdoor season, Desiree maintained an impressive winning streak, securing first place in the 200 and 400 meters at various competitions. Her accolades include being named the Arkansas female track athlete of the year by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and receiving a full-ride scholarship to Kansas State University, where she will continue her athletic career.

Following the celebration, Dr. McClung confirmed there were no comments from patrons, and the meeting proceeded to reports from the board members. The evening concluded with expressions of gratitude for Desiree's contributions to the school and community, emphasizing the pride felt by the district in her achievements.
