Red Hook Sea Raiders host summer swim meet for 800 families on August 2

The Red Hook Town Council meeting held on June 25, 2025, focused on preparations for the upcoming swim meet hosted by the Red Hook Sea Raiders, part of the Duchess Ulster swim organization. The event is set to take place on August 2, 2025, and will bring together approximately 800 families from eight teams, each with 100 to 200 swimmers.

The head coach of the Sea Raiders outlined the logistics for the event, emphasizing the need for effective traffic management and parking arrangements. The majority of parking will occur on the Red Hook Pool property, with additional spots reserved for swim officials. Overflow parking has been arranged at nearby schools, and parents are encouraged to carpool to minimize congestion.

To ensure safety and smooth operations, the coach confirmed that first responders will be present to direct traffic, particularly during peak hours from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM and again around 4:00 PM when the meet concludes. The coach also mentioned that signage will be placed along Linden Avenue to guide attendees and prevent parking in restricted areas.

In addition to logistical considerations, the meeting discussed the importance of local business involvement. Several businesses are expected to offer discounts and takeout options to accommodate the influx of visitors, aiming to boost local revenue during the event.
