Jeff Decker plans sale of 9 Hook Road to New York Transco after site improvements

The Town of Rhinebeck Planning Board has taken significant steps towards the formal sale of a key property in the Business Park District, currently occupied by New York Transco. During the meeting on July 7, 2025, it was revealed that the site, formerly known as Decker Excavation, is undergoing necessary site plan adjustments before the property can be officially transferred from owner Jeff Decker to New York Transco.

The 5-acre parcel located at 9 Hook Road is primarily utilized as a contractor's yard, with approximately 0.85 acres of hard surface area. Proposed improvements include lean-to additions to the main shop building and enhanced security fencing. The site also features existing structures, including a garage and a machine shop shed, which have undergone various improvements over time.

New York Transco, a utility company focused on enhancing existing utility infrastructure, plans to utilize this site for storing materials related to their projects. Their work involves upgrading high-tension power lines to improve transmission capacity and reliability while minimizing environmental impact. Recent projects include a significant extension of a power line from Ramapo to Rock Tavern.

The Planning Board's discussions highlighted the importance of these developments for the community, as they promise to bolster local infrastructure and support energy distribution efforts.
