Rec Center approves $25K contract with FitOn Health for fitness programs

The Medina City Council's Finance Committee meeting on July 14, 2025, spotlighted a new partnership aimed at enhancing fitness opportunities for local seniors. The committee discussed a proposed contract with FitOn Health, a program designed to provide membership and fitness class privileges to eligible clients.

Rec Center Director Jackson highlighted that this initiative mirrors existing programs like SilverSneakers and Renew Active, which are already popular among seniors. The contract operates on a reimbursement model based on attendance, where the rec center earns $56.70 per individual each month if they visit the facility four times. If attendance falls short, the reimbursement is adjusted accordingly.

This collaboration was initiated after a member of the rec center, who recently joined Blue Cross Blue Shield, introduced the opportunity. After thorough negotiations, the committee expressed optimism about the potential benefits of this program, which promises to expand fitness access for seniors in the community.

As the rec center moves forward with this contract, it aims to provide more options for health and wellness, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the local population's fitness needs.
