Wichita Falls Board approves security and educational service contracts for schools

The Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) Board of Trustees made significant strides in enhancing district services during their recent meeting on May 13, 2025. Key recommendations included the approval of security monitoring services, pest control, and educational support initiatives, all aimed at improving the safety and learning environment for students.

The board unanimously approved a three-year contract with Commercial and Industrial Electronics for security monitoring services, which will oversee fire alarms, security systems, and food service monitoring, among other critical functions. Superintendent Dr. Donny Lee emphasized that these services are essential for maintaining a safe school environment and are funded through the district's budgeted maintenance items.

In another move to bolster district operations, trustees awarded a three-year pest control contract to ARCS Home Pest Exterminator, set to begin in July 2025. This decision, also recommended by Dr. Lee, is expected to enhance the overall health and safety of school facilities.

The board also discussed the "Capturing Kids' Hearts" professional development program, which has been a cornerstone of district initiatives since the 2015-2016 school year. The trustees approved a $153,400 investment in this program, which aims to foster positive relationships and improve student engagement across 13 of the district's 15 campuses.

Additionally, the board approved the purchase of Lohman Education Modules for the 2025-2026 school year, aimed at providing targeted academic support to students. This $197,200 investment will help close learning gaps and reinforce core academic concepts.

Trustees also addressed infrastructure needs, approving a $321,000 purchase of stadium lights from Musco Sports Lighting. This cost-effective solution involves retrofitting existing poles, significantly reducing expenses compared to a full replacement.

Lastly, the board reviewed policies regarding inter-district transfers and electronic device retrieval fees, ensuring alignment with current practices and regulations. The discussion highlighted the importance of maintaining flexibility in accepting out-of-district students year-round, which is crucial for maximizing state funding.
