Lincoln Park allocates $778K for community programs and public services funding

Lincoln Park is set to enhance community services and infrastructure following the City Council's approval of a $778,236 allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during the July 14, 2025, meeting. This funding reflects a commitment to support vital public services and infrastructure improvements that address the diverse needs of residents.

The allocation includes a significant focus on public services, with 15% of the total award designated for community programs. Notable recipients include Blessed Hope, which will receive funding for its food pantry and emergency shelter services, providing essential support for homeless and housing-insecure residents. The Downriver Community Development will receive $14,000 to assist youth and individuals with disabilities in job readiness and placement, fostering self-sufficiency and community resilience.

Additional allocations include $5,000 for the City of Hope Lincoln Park to enhance senior outreach programs, promoting health and social engagement among isolated seniors. The Guidance Center will receive $10,000 to support mental health and family well-being initiatives, while Saint Michael's Blessing Box will receive $9,000 to combat hunger by providing meals for children and families.

Infrastructure improvements are also a priority, with $43,000 allocated to the fire department for essential safety equipment and $280,000 earmarked for parks and recreation, including renovations to basketball courts and other facilities. The city will also invest in code enforcement to maintain housing quality and neighborhood safety.
