Avelo Airlines exits West Coast markets including Salem's final flights on August 10

Salem residents are facing significant changes in air travel options as Avelo Airlines announced its exit from all West Coast markets, including Salem. The last flights to and from the city are scheduled for August 10, 2025. City staff will present a detailed report on the financial impacts and operational details to the city council on July 28, which will inform the next steps regarding this development.

During the meeting, Councilor Vang emphasized the importance of maintaining walkable infrastructure in Salem, particularly regarding sidewalk construction. She noted that while the city is responsible for building sidewalks, ongoing maintenance falls under the jurisdiction of Marion County.
