City Council coordinates GED services and recognizes elected officials at Eagle Point

The Commerce City Council held a regular study session on July 14, 2025, focusing on several key initiatives aimed at enhancing community services and engagement. A significant highlight of the meeting was the ongoing collaboration with MSU Denver to launch a GED services program this fall, which aims to provide educational opportunities for residents.

Additionally, the council recognized the efforts of the Senior Commission, which is hosting a "Lunch and Learn" event at the Eagle Point Recreation Center. This event will feature a presentation on the "Advancing Commerce Seed Together" program, designed to foster community development and support for seniors.

In a move to increase community awareness, the council announced plans to display photographs of elected officials at various public facilities, including Eagle Point, Bison Ridge, and the local golf course. This initiative aims to enhance recognition of council members and their roles in representing the community.

During the session, Mayor Pro Tem Noble raised concerns regarding the boundaries for the ACT program, which currently limits eligibility to certain areas of the city. The council discussed the need to potentially modify these boundaries to ensure that more residents, particularly those in North Commerce City, can access the services funded by ARPA. The mayor indicated that discussions are already underway to address these concerns.

The meeting concluded with a focus on improving staff morale and community engagement, with suggestions for utilizing city monitors to celebrate employee achievements and milestones. The council remains committed to fostering a supportive environment for both residents and city staff.
