Watertown School Board designates new financial depositories and legal counsel

The Watertown School Board made significant strides in its latest meeting on July 14, 2025, by approving key personnel and institutional designations that will shape the district's operations moving forward.

The board unanimously designated First Premier Bank as the official financial depository, transitioning from First Interstate Bank. This decision is expected to streamline financial processes during the transition period, ensuring that the district's banking needs are met efficiently.

In another important move, the board reaffirmed the Watertown Public Opinion as the official school newspaper. This decision comes after considering the new Watertown Current, which has not yet been in publication for a full calendar year, as required by state law. The continuation with the Watertown Public Opinion ensures that the district maintains a reliable platform for communication with the community.

The board also appointed Rory King from Vance, Gosch, and Kramer, along with the KSB law firm, as the district's legal counsel. This selection aims to provide comprehensive legal support, particularly in areas such as Title IX compliance.

Further personnel decisions included the approval of Emily Hatton as the Title I coordinator, Dr. Jennifer Bollinger as the Section 504 coordinator, and Derek Barrios as the homeless education coordinator.
