Superintendent Wimmer highlights summer program success and welcomes new HR director Leatherman

Construction updates and student achievements took center stage at the School Board of Wisconsin meeting on July 14, 2025. Board members expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction projects, highlighting the effective management of contingencies and options within the guaranteed maximum price framework. This proactive approach has allowed the district to navigate challenges smoothly.

Superintendent Wimmer introduced Sarah Leatherman, the new Director of Human Resources, marking her first board meeting. Wimmer also celebrated the success of the summer school program, which engaged approximately 2,300 students across K-7 and high school levels. The program, led by Erin Faust and supported by dedicated staff, provided enriching experiences for students during the summer months.

Looking ahead, the district is preparing for the upcoming school year with various transition initiatives for incoming kindergarten, fifth, and seventh graders. Plans include jump start sessions and music camps, aimed at easing students into their new environments, especially at schools undergoing construction.

In addition to academic preparations, Wimmer recognized the achievements of students who represented West Bend at national competitions. Despite facing severe weather-related travel disruptions, students from SkillsUSA, Future Business Leaders of America, and Family Career and Community Leaders of America showcased resilience and skill at their respective events.
