Under the warm glow of the Cerritos City Hall, a heartfelt tribute unfolded as the city honored its dedicated volunteers who tirelessly served the community throughout 2024. The gathering celebrated the invaluable contributions of individuals from the Cerritos Library, Cerritos Sheriff's Station, Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park, and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

The Friends of the Cerritos Library stood out as passionate advocates, having played a pivotal role in establishing the library. Their commitment continued in 2024, as they organized multiple book sales and a writer's festival, raising an impressive $34,500. Their efforts translated into 1,247 hours of service, enriching the library's programs and resources for the community.

Safety remained a top priority for Cerritos, and the Volunteers on Patrol (VOP) were instrumental in ensuring secure neighborhoods. Comprising 15 active members, the VOPs collectively drove nearly 18,000 miles, conducting thousands of checks on homes and parks. Their dedication amounted to approximately 8,950 hours of service, reinforcing the city's commitment to community safety.

At the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, the Arts Ambassadors brought a touch of magic to every performance. Known for their exceptional customer service, these volunteers dedicated nearly 6,700 hours, enhancing the experience for every patron from opening night to the season's finale.

The Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park thrived thanks to the efforts of 102 adults and seniors, along with 18 teenagers. These volunteers not only supported special events and led popular classes but also served nearly 23,000 lunches, contributing a remarkable 6,750 hours of service to the center.

In total, the City of Cerritos expressed its gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who collectively contributed over 17,000 hours of service in 2024. Their unwavering commitment and selfless actions have woven a stronger fabric of community spirit, ensuring that Cerritos remains a vibrant and welcoming place for all.
