Lake Dallas ISD Board Celebrates Student Achievements in Arts and Education Programs

The Lake Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees convened on January 13, 2025, to discuss various student achievements and upcoming events. The meeting highlighted significant accomplishments in the arts and education, showcasing the talents of students and the dedication of staff.

One of the key recognitions was for Avery, a student whose artwork won the Lake Dallas ISD Christmas card art contest. Her piece was featured on the front of the district's holiday cards, and she received a framed copy of her artwork as a token of appreciation.

The board also celebrated the success of the Lake Dallas High School TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) chapter. Gina Manassian, the TAFE sponsor, reported that ten students advanced to the Teach Tomorrow Summit, a state conference in Galveston, Texas. The students participated in various competitions, including creating digital portfolios and interactive teaching materials. Interns from the program shared their experiences, emphasizing the skills they developed in teamwork, public speaking, and creativity.

Additionally, the meeting featured a presentation from the theater department, led by Melissa Schamp. She announced that three students received superior ratings at the Texas Thespian Festival, qualifying them for international competition. The students showcased their talents in acting and prop creation, with one student, Treya Davis, earning high praise for her intricate prop design.

The board expressed pride in the students' achievements and discussed plans for fundraising to support the theater program's participation in the upcoming competition in Indiana. Overall, the meeting underscored the district's commitment to fostering student talent and preparing them for future educational endeavors.
