Lake Dallas ISD outlines teacher pay raises and changes to incentive allotments

The Lake Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Board Meeting on June 16, 2025, highlighted significant changes in teacher compensation and educational funding, aiming to enhance the quality of education and support for staff.

The meeting also addressed support staff pay, with an allotment of $45 per student allocated for non-administrative staff, totaling approximately $130,000 for Lake Dallas ISD. This funding is intended to enhance salaries for roles such as teacher aides and counselors.

Another significant topic was the Early Literacy Intervention Allotment, which will provide $250 per student needing reading support, capped at 10% of district enrollment. However, if students still require assistance by 2030, funding will revert to the state, placing the financial burden back on the district.

The board discussed the new requirements for annual facility reports and the increase in the school safety allotment, which has doubled to $20 per student, resulting in an additional $100,000 for the district.

Changes to teacher hiring practices were also noted, particularly the prohibition of hiring uncertified teachers in core subjects by the 2027-2028 school year. This move aims to ensure a higher standard of teaching quality across public schools.
