Lake Dallas High School Students Qualify for UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest

The recent Lake Dallas ISD Board Meeting highlighted the impressive achievements of local students in the arts, particularly in music performance. A total of 60 students participated in solo and ensemble events, showcasing their talents through challenging college-level repertoire.

Among the participants, 40 solo performances received superior ratings, while six earned excellent ratings. Additionally, eight ensembles, consisting of 31 students, also achieved superior ratings. This level of excellence has allowed 24 solos to qualify for the prestigious Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in Austin, set to take place on Saturday, July 20th.

To qualify for this honor, students had to perform their solos from memory and receive a superior rating from adjudicators. While ensembles are not required to memorize their pieces, they must also perform college-level literature to qualify. In total, 38 students will represent Lake Dallas High School and the broader Lake Cities community at this state event.

The board meeting celebrated these students, recognizing their hard work and dedication. A group photo was planned to commemorate their achievements, emphasizing the community's pride in their accomplishments. This event not only highlights the students' musical talents but also fosters a sense of community spirit and support for the arts within Lake Dallas ISD.
