Saco Maine Enhances Beach Access with AARP Grant for Portable Mats

In addition to the beach accessibility project, the council reviewed the success of the medical rides program, which has expanded significantly, providing over 800 rides in the past year. Volunteers play a crucial role in this initiative, ensuring that residents can attend medical appointments without the fear of being left behind.

The meeting also addressed the need for additional funding to support ongoing programs and the establishment of a dedicated community center space for older residents. Currently, the only facility available is a small, windowless room, which does not adequately serve the community's needs.
