Chester County Council Reviews $50M Rail Service Upgrade Proposal

West Chester Borough Council has taken significant steps towards enhancing public transportation options with a detailed proposal for a new rail service aimed at improving connectivity to Philadelphia. During the voting session on July 16, 2025, council members discussed various operational scenarios for the proposed service, which would run Monday through Friday, avoiding conflicts with existing freight operations.

The council's analysis included multiple transportation methods, such as train and bus routes, highlighting the expected travel times and connections. For instance, a journey starting from the borough center to Wawa would take approximately 12 minutes, followed by an 8-minute wait and a 49-minute train ride to Suburban Station in Philadelphia.
