Yukon City Council Approves $200K Roadway Project and New Equipment Purchases

The City of Yukon, Oklahoma, held a City Council meeting on July 15, 2025, where several key agenda items were discussed and approved. The meeting began with a motion to approve the minutes from the previous regular meeting on June 26, 2025, along with a payment of $200,000 for the roadway widening and waterline relocation project on Southwest 20 Ninth Street, which had previously received approval in June 2024.

The council also approved Change Order Number 2 for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant, amounting to $14,524.66, to be funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Additionally, several purchases for the sanitation department were authorized, including a 2026 Peterbilt semi truck for $171,499, a walking floor trailer for $104,750, and a 2025 Peterbilt automated side loader for $434,990. The walking floor trailer, which was explained during the meeting, is designed to efficiently transport waste from the transfer station.

The council then moved on to approve an agreement with Smith Robert Baulch Shill Wyler LLC for program management and engineering support services for the Yukon Municipal Authority. This was followed by the approval of a third amendment to the tower lease agreement with T-Mobile LLC, which included a rent increase of $152 per month.

After a brief recess, the council reconvened to address the consent docket, which included routine items for approval. Among these were the payment of material claims totaling $1,874,995.87, the designation of surplus items from the technology department, and the renewal of school resource officer agreements for the 2025-2026 school year, totaling $375,000 for five officers across two schools.

The meeting concluded with the approval of various street projects, including asphalt resurfacing and sidewalk construction, all to be completed using the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget. The council's decisions reflect ongoing efforts to improve city infrastructure and public safety while managing resources effectively.
