Dover Board of Education reviews strategic goals and achieves board certification

While summer may signal a break for students, the Dover Board of Education is hard at work, laying the groundwork for an impactful upcoming school year. During their annual retreat on July 7, board members engaged in a collaborative session focused on strategic planning and development, co-facilitated by Ms. Phillips and New Jersey School Boards Association representative Charlene Peterson.

A key highlight of the retreat was the review of the board's annual self-evaluation, which provided valuable insights into their governance practices. Board members participated in a team-building exercise aimed at defining the ideal student experience in Dover. Central to their discussions was the belief that "all means all," emphasizing a commitment to challenge, support, and celebrate every student, regardless of their background.

These reflections are shaping new board goals, which are set to be adopted at the public meeting in August. In a significant achievement, the Dover Board of Education has also attained board certification through the New Jersey School Boards Association, marking a first for the district. This certification underscores their dedication to effective governance and continuous improvement, requiring extensive training in various critical areas.

Additionally, board leaders held a productive meeting with Mine Hill school board officials to explore ways to enhance collaboration and service for both communities, ensuring high-quality educational experiences for all students.
