Kay Hovanian plans 289-unit community with $4M amenities at Highway 42 and Betty Wilson

London, Ohio, is set to welcome a significant new development aimed at attracting empty nesters, as the city council discussed plans for a 289-unit community during their recent meeting. The project, spearheaded by Kay Hovnanian, the eighteenth largest home builder in the United States, promises to enhance the city’s appeal with upscale homes priced between $400,000 and $700,000, along with a substantial investment of $4 million in amenities.

The proposed community will be located at the corner of Betty Wilson and Highway 42, creating a visually appealing entryway into London. City officials emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards for the development, ensuring that the commercial properties along the highway will have a cohesive and attractive appearance. Interest from potential businesses, including a bank, a car wash, and a hotel, has already been expressed, indicating a vibrant commercial future for the area.

However, the development is contingent upon improvements to the local infrastructure, particularly the sewer trunk line, which has faced delays. City leaders are working closely with the county engineer to address these issues and plan for necessary traffic management, including the potential installation of two roundabouts to facilitate smooth traffic flow.

The council also discussed zoning changes to streamline the development process, transitioning from a B2 Planned Unit Development (PUD) to a more flexible PUD designation.
