Arlington School Committee Approves Fiscal 25 Budget Adjustments and Transfers

The Arlington School Committee made significant budget adjustments for fiscal year 2025 during their recent meeting, approving a series of transfers that will reshape funding across various educational categories. The committee voted to increase the elementary education budget by $1,498,082, the secondary education budget by $784,861, and the special education budget by $887,099.

In contrast, the curriculum and instruction category saw a decrease of $1,307,876, while the administration budget was increased by $185,969. Additionally, the committee reduced the "other" category by $796,664 and made a substantial cut to the contingency fund, decreasing it by $1,251,471.

These adjustments result in a total spending plan from the town appropriation of $96,852,007, with specific allocations including $27,347,635 for elementary education, $27,893,220 for secondary education, and $25,679,513 for special education.
