San Joaquin County Initiates Free Household Waste Voucher Program at Local Facilities

San Joaquin County is launching a new voucher program aimed at helping residents dispose of household waste free of charge. During a special meeting on July 18, 2025, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors discussed the initiative, which will allow residents to take their waste to designated facilities without incurring fees.

The two facilities participating in the program are the Lovelace Transfer Station and the North County Transfer Station in Lodi, both operating seven days a week from 7 AM to 4 PM. Residents can obtain vouchers either online or directly at the facilities, ensuring accessibility for those who may not be tech-savvy. Each voucher will require the resident's name and address to confirm their San Joaquin County residency, as mandated by county regulations.

Supervisor Ding emphasized the importance of spreading the word about the program, noting that social media and text messaging will be utilized to inform the public. The program is specifically designed for household waste, meaning that contractors or commercial waste will not qualify for the free disposal service.

The initiative aims to streamline waste disposal for residents, encouraging proper waste management while reducing the burden of disposal costs. As the program rolls out, officials anticipate a positive response from the community, helping to keep San Joaquin County clean and waste-free.
