Boulder Council Explores Partnership for Theater-based Difficult Dialogues Series

The Boulder City Human Relations Committee (HRC) is exploring a partnership with local artist Ami to facilitate a series of theatrical dialogues aimed at fostering community conversations on pressing issues, including the Israel-Palestine conflict. During a recent meeting, committee members discussed the potential for these events to serve as a platform for open dialogue, utilizing theater as a medium to engage residents in meaningful discussions.

The proposed initiative would involve hosting two performances each month, with the possibility of making it a recurring event. The committee is considering using funds from its budget to support this initiative, with estimates suggesting that each show could cost around $1,000. The HRC aims to secure enough financial backing to sponsor at least one round of performances over three months, allowing for a rhythm of ongoing community engagement.

The events would take place at the Canyon Theatre, and discussions are underway to reserve the venue for the performances.
