Carroll County Schools Recognizes Excellence in Student Achievements and Staff Awards

Carroll County Schools celebrated significant achievements during the July 17, 2025, Board Meeting, highlighting the dedication of students, staff, and schools in the community. The meeting commenced with a warm acknowledgment of local school leaders, including Principal Ashley Megill of Province Elementary and Principal Mike Bedowsky of Glorida High School.

A key highlight was the recognition of Glanton Heisman Elementary and Whitesburg Elementary Schools, which received the Georgia Department of Education Seal of Safety Preparedness for their exceptional efforts in enhancing emergency preparedness. Principals Cecilia Brown, Kim Gilbert, and Heather Hart were present to accept this honor.

In addition, students Luke Peters and Anna Claire Daniel earned first place in the EMT category at the state host competition, showcasing their skills and hard work under the guidance of their teacher, Christopher Smith. The board also honored Fred Smith, named the West Georgia Bridal District Bus Driver of the Year, for his seven years of dedicated service in safely transporting students.

The meeting proceeded with the approval of the agenda and minutes from previous meetings, followed by a report from Dr. Jessica Ainsworth on behalf of Superintendent Scott Cowart. Notably, Miss Robin Porter from Villa Rica High School received the Innovation in Computer Science Award from the Georgia Department of Education, further underscoring the district's commitment to educational excellence.

These recognitions not only celebrate individual and school achievements but also reflect the community's ongoing dedication to fostering a supportive and safe educational environment.
