East Ridge Board Approves JDH Company's $3.2M Retail Roofing Development

The Industrial Development Board of East Ridge convened on July 17, 2025, to discuss a significant development project involving JDH Company, a commercial roofing and sheet metal business. The meeting focused on Resolution 2025-7-18, which pertains to the Board of Regent's approval for the company's new location at 5615 Oakdale Drive, East Ridge, Tennessee.

The board expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential economic impact. The JDH Company is projected to generate taxable sales starting at approximately $14 million, with an expected annual growth rate of 2 to 2.5 percent. The total investment for the development is estimated at $3.2 million, with the city offering a financial incentive structured as a 50-50 split of the generated revenue. This arrangement allows the developer to recoup up to $1.6 million over time, beginning with an annual incentive of around $60,000.

The board noted that the site previously generated no revenue, making this development particularly beneficial for the city. The plans for the new facility were presented, showcasing a modern design that aligns with the community's aesthetic goals.

Tom Schreiner, Chief Operating Officer of JDH, addressed the board, emphasizing the company's commitment to the East Ridge community. He shared that the company has a long-standing history in the area and expressed excitement about returning to East Ridge after 27 years. Schreiner also mentioned the positive impact on local employment, noting that they have hired graduates from the East Ridge High School construction academy.
