Long Beach Launches Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Fund for Immigrant Families

Long Beach has launched the “Long Beach Neighbors Supporting Neighbors” Fund, a new initiative aimed at providing direct assistance to families affected by immigration enforcement actions. This program is designed to empower local community organizations that support vulnerable residents. The initiative kicked off with a significant boost, receiving a $100,000 contribution from the California Community Foundation, along with an additional $50,000 raised in just 24 hours.

The fund aims to meet the basic needs of families impacted by these enforcement actions, demonstrating a community-driven response to a pressing issue. The goal is to raise a quarter of a million dollars, with funds directed to frontline organizations that will provide essential services.

In addition to immediate support, the city plans to introduce the "Defending Our Values" package in the upcoming 2026 budget. This package will include emergency cash assistance for immigrant families, legal defense funding through the Long Beach Justice Fund, and programs focused on food and housing security.

City officials emphasized the importance of unity and compassion in addressing these challenges, urging residents to come together to support one another. The initiative reflects Long Beach's commitment to protecting its community and fostering a spirit of solidarity in the face of adversity.
