Elliott Baseball Plans Major Improvements for Fields With Investor Funding

A significant capital project aimed at improving the Elliott baseball fields took center stage during the Lewiston Public Schools School Committee meeting on July 21, 2025. Committee members discussed the urgent need for a detailed cost estimate to attract potential investors for the project, which is crucial for enhancing the facilities.

The discussion highlighted the current state of the fields, described as "very, very wet" and in need of extensive drainage and irrigation work. The ownership of the fields, shared between the city and Cal Ripken Baseball, was clarified, with the committee expressing a commitment to invest in the facilities. A motion was made and unanimously approved to direct the superintendent to collaborate with Elliott baseball on the proposed enhancements.
