Crew Car Wash Proposes $6M Expansion in Kokomo at Southeast Corner of 931

Kokomo City is set to welcome a new Crew Car Wash location following a recent meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals on March 4, 2025. The board approved a special exception for the car wash to be built at the southeast corner of State Road 931 and Center Road, a site currently occupied by one of three gas stations in the area.

Paul Wyman, representing Crew Car Wash, highlighted the company's commitment to community investment, noting that they contribute over $1 million annually to local charities and organizations across their 48 locations. The new car wash is expected to bring a $6 million investment to Kokomo, which includes significant landscaping enhancements estimated between $90,000 and $150,000.

The proposed development aligns with the existing commercial character of the area and is designed to improve local property values. Wyman emphasized that the project will not negatively impact public health, safety, or morals, as it adheres to zoning ordinances and will enhance the overall aesthetic of the neighborhood.

During the meeting, representatives from Crew Car Wash addressed concerns about traffic management, assuring that a new queuing system would efficiently handle customer flow, allowing for up to 24 cars in line. The design includes an exit-only lane to facilitate smoother traffic movement.

The approval of this new location marks a significant step in Kokomo's commercial development, promising to enhance community services while maintaining the city's commitment to growth and improvement.
