Brett Splinter proposes High Dive Inn bar for Hudson's Seasons Art Gallery building

In the heart of Hudson, Wisconsin, the City Council convened on July 21, 2025, to discuss several key developments that promise to shape the community's landscape. Among the most notable was the introduction of a new bar, the High Dive Inn, proposed by Brett Splinter, a local entrepreneur with deep roots in the hospitality industry.

Splinter, who is also a partner in the well-known Nova bar, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing that it is not merely a side venture but a commitment to enhancing the local community. The High Dive Inn will occupy the lower level of the Seasons Art Gallery building, strategically located near the popular Dipsea Ice Cream. The concept aims to create a family-friendly atmosphere, serving elevated hot dogs alongside a full liquor menu, allowing parents to enjoy a drink while their children indulge in ice cream.

The council's discussion also touched on the availability of liquor licenses, with three full reserve licenses still up for grabs in Hudson. This particular license for the High Dive Inn is a transfer from a previous establishment, which the council approved unanimously, signaling strong support for the new venture.

In addition to the bar proposal, the council addressed the upcoming 2027 Locust Street Reconstruction project. City Engineer Erin McPhee Anderson outlined plans for public engagement and the formation of an ad hoc committee to guide the project. This committee will include council members and local stakeholders, ensuring that community input shapes the design and improvements along Locust Street.
