National Healthcare Corporation presents site plan for new facility on Cedar Lane

The Tullahoma Planning Commission convened on July 21, 2025, to discuss the proposed site plan for a new NHC Healthcare facility at 1339 Cedar Lane. The meeting featured representatives from National Healthcare Corporation and La Bella Associates, who presented details about the project aimed at enhancing local healthcare services.

Gary O'Brien, a civil engineer with La Bella Associates, introduced the project team, including Michael Lamont and Andy Clark from National Healthcare Corporation, and David Hedinger from DMK Development Construction. The new facility will be located north of the existing NHC Healthcare facility and is designed to provide specialized care for Alzheimer's and memory care patients. The existing facility will remain operational alongside the new development.

During the meeting, staff member Mister Luthy provided an overview of the project, noting that it would supplement the current healthcare services in the area. The proposed facility will accommodate 56 assisted living residents and 23 memory care residents, with plans for future expansion as needed.

The commission reviewed comments from the Development Advisory Committee (DAC), which included recommendations for extending the front sidewalk to the north property line and ensuring proper drainage systems are in place. These comments were deemed satisfactory and did not require significant modifications to the site plan.

The commission also discussed the importance of connecting sidewalks to enhance public access, particularly to nearby shopping centers. A motion was made to approve the site plan, with an amendment to include the extension of the sidewalk along the Cedar Lane frontage of the new development.

The commission unanimously approved the site plan, marking a significant step forward in expanding healthcare options in Tullahoma. The new facility is expected to enhance community health services and provide specialized care for residents in need.
